Home-Start UK’s new impact report, which is now available to download from their website, shows the difference that it’s 13,000 volunteers are making as they work with 27,000 families across the UK.

The impact report shows that:

  • 93% of families see improvements in parent’s mental health
  • 94% of families are more involved in their children’s development
  • 94% of families feel less isolated

The report also shows that more parents than ever are coming to Home-Start because they’re struggling with:

  • 59% of parents say they are experiencing loneliness and isolation, up 3% in the last four years
  • 59% of parents need support with the mental health and wellbeing of families (up 4% in the last four years)
  • 42% of parents ask for help to build supportive, nurturing, loving relationships with their children (up 3% in the last four years)
  • 29% of families are facing money worries and financial pressure (up 3% in the last four years)

Home-Start’s local community network of 13,500 trained volunteers and expert support helps these families through their challenging times. Home-Start offers no judgement, just compassionate, confidential help and support.

An independent study by Cardiff University one of the largest studies of family support of its kind – showed that completing Home-Start support resulted in high rates of improvement among the most stressed families. The research also showed that the more frequently visits occurred, the faster families improved.
