Big Tea Party 08

People across the country have put their kettles on and got their friends together to help raise money to support families with young children who are struggling to cope.

big tea party
Home-Start's 2008 Big Tea Party was held in May, and people all over the country took advantage of the good weather, two bank holidays and schools' half term.

We heard about tea for two, for 20 or for 200 - around kitchen tables, in gardens, at work, all over the place!

People chose to raise money for their local Home-Start, which recruits and trains volunteers to support families in their local communities, and has to raise its own funds to survive.

Other people raised money for Home-Start UK, which provides professional support for all 340 Home-Start schemes - setting up new ones and supporting existing Home-Starts with legal advice, training, human resources, communications and all those other important things for running a high quality family support service.

We'll be announcing the totals raised later this year.
