For the third year running, Home-Start is supporting National Family Week: a week long event that celebrates the importance of family life in the UK.

National Family Week encourages families to spend more quality time together and lead healthy and active lifestyles.

Home-Start UK's Inaugural Research Lecture

10 January 2011, London
Home-Start UK hosted its inaugural lecture on Monday 10th January 2011, the first in a planned annual series. Professor Sir Michael Marmot gave the keynote speech and Francis Maude MP and Dr Harry Burns discussed the contribution that the charity and voluntary sectors could make to reducing inequalities in people's health across the UK.  The lecture series will stimulate thinking and debate on the key issues within family policy and encourage public and voluntary sector representatives from across the UK to share ideas and experiences that make a real difference to families' lives.

The Family Room 2010

The importance of continued investment in families was highlighted to a packed room at the Home-Start and Children England Family Room event at the Labour Party Conference on 28 September.

The event was one of a series of ten run by The Family Room 2010 - a coalition of 15 charities working together to raise awareness of issues facing the UK's families at all three major political parties' autumn conferences.
