Home-Start in a nutshell:
- Supports parents with children under five years old.
- Is unique in the UK in providing its service in the families' homes.
- Recruits and trains volunteers, who are usually parents themselves, to support other parents.
- Is set up so each local scheme is an independent charity rooted in its local community.
- Concentrates on supporting parents, in order to give children the best possible start in life.
- Supported 34,704 families and 71,602 children in 2006/7.
- Has 15,611 home visiting volunteers.
- Has 2,430 trustees.

- Provide facts and spokespeople on our work with families.
- Research facts and spokespeople on related issues such as isolation, physical and mental well being of parents, linking with other family support services.
- Give information about current fundraising and publicity campaigns: eg Home-Start's Big Tea Party, volunteer and trustee recruitment campaigns.
- Provide photographs of our work - see our photolibrary for jounalists and editors.
- Celebrities and their agents who would like to support Home-Start. Stories from celebrities already involved.

I became a Trustee of Home-Start in 2000 simply because I so wished I had had the support of a volunteer during those very terrible times in my life....although I came through it all, I could have easily tipped over the edge. I don't want anyone else in my position to have to cope on their own.
