Home-Start Richmond is celebrating after one of its volunteers raised £8,000 from a recent Christmas carol service.
Pat Macdonald-Brown who volunteers for the charity, organised the event to raise much needed funds. The concert was supported by over 400 local people including the Mayor of Richmond upon Thames, Home-Start Richmond patron, Susan Kramer MP, and several famous faces from TV and theatre.
There were readings from actors Niamh Cusack, Patricia Hodge and Edward de Souza and BAFTA award winning composer Howard Goodall. Patron, Susan Kramer also made an appeal for donations.
Pat said: "I have been a volunteer with Home-Start Richmond for ten years and I know what a fantastic job they do in supporting families in our borough. I wanted to raise money to train more volunteers as there are many parents who are experiencing complex difficulties. For many of them, having a Home-Start volunteer to help them could make all the difference to their lives."
Martina Phillips, scheme manager at Home-Start Richmond said: "We are so grateful to Pat for all the hard work she had put in to selling tickets for the event anr organising all the details. It has really been a magical evening and we are delighted that so many people could attend."
