Home-Start celebrates the importance of its volunteers in the lead up to Volunteers Week (1st-7th June)

In conjunction with National Volunteers’ Week 1st-7th June,
Home-Start Milton Keynes, celebrated the commitment and dedication of its wonderful volunteers on the evening of Wednesday 19th May.

Approximately 40 volunteers, staff, referrers and funders enjoyed refreshments and the late evening sun on the decking of the Marle Inn in Milton Keynes. Thanks was given to volunteers to celebrate and acknowledge the time donated to Home-Start and the kindness and friendship that volunteers extended to the families supported, both at home visits and at any one of the five family groups the scheme runs at local SureStart Children’s Centres.

Certificates were presented to volunteers to celebrate their length of service which ranged from four months to an impressive 11years. Senior Coordinator, Steph Ellis said, “We are very fortunate to have a fantastic group of volunteers who have a wide range of skills, backgrounds and attributes. Without them, we wouldn’t be in a position to help families through their tough times and we are so pleased to be able to thank them formally for their dedication.”

Volunteers also enjoyed the evening and recognised that their volunteering is worthwhile, one volunteer said: “Home-Start is an organisation that makes you feel rewarded for giving service to people because you see the difference you make to people’s lives every time you visit them, and that inspires you to continue with your service.”
