Home-Start families will recieve books as part of National Bookstart Day 2010

This year National Bookstart Day 2010 is on Friday 11th June and for the third year Bookstart is supporting us by sending resources directly to local Home-Starts.

National Bookstart Day will include resources for Home-Start that can be used for groups that already meet regularly and volunteers can share these resources with individual families in their homes.

This year’s theme is ‘At the Seaside. To tie in with the theme, the renowned children’s author Tony Mitton has written Bookstart a wonderful counting book called ‘At the Seaside’, beautifully illustrated by Alex Ayliffe.

Bookstart will be sending 50 copies of the book and a pack of fun posters and stickers for each Home-Start to give out to their families.

Resources include event posters and flyers, ‘wish you were here’ postcards, VIP invites, E-cards, guest list sheets, masks and colouring and rhymetime sheets as well as an e-copy of the book.

There will also be useful tips and ideas for holding a “seaside event” at home for volunteers and families that are not attending organised events.

Paula Sutton from Booktrust says, "We hope that these resources are helpful in engaging families in the fun and joy of sharing books and rhymes".
