Home-Start Richmond volunteer raises £6,500 from carol concert

Pat Macdonald-Brown, who has been volunteering for Home-Start Richmond for five years, organised a carol concert to raise funds for her local Home-Start. The event was supported by over 300 local people, including the mayor of Richmond upon Thames and several famous faces from TV and theatre.

During the concert there were many readings, including several from actors Peter Bowles, Moray Watson and Hilary Whitehall. An appeal for donations came from Susan Kramer MP, who is also the patron of Home-Start Richmond. Further readings came from TV presenter Anneka Rice and lyricist Sir Tim Rice.

Organiser Pat said: "I have been a volunteer with Home-Start Richmond for over five years and I know what a fantastic job they do in supporting families in our borough. I wanted to raise money to train more volunteers as there is a waiting list of parents who are experiencing complex difficulties. For many of them having a Home-Start volunteer to help them could make all the difference to their lives."

Home-Start Richmond were delighted with Pat's fundraising efforts. Martina Phillips, scheme manager said, "We are so grateful to Pat for all the hard work she has put into selling tickets for the event and organising all the details. It has been a really magical evening and we are delighted that so many people could attend."
