Home-Start launches a new scheme in Lincolnshire


The first group of home-visiting volunteers have completed their preparation course in South Holland. Steve Harley, team manager for Children's Services at Lincolnshire County Council presented the volunteers with their certificates of achievement.

One of the newly trained volunteers Jenny said, "I joined Home-Start because I had a little spare time, I wanted to get out and meet people and offer friendship. The course was invaluable, very informative and very friendly, with no pressure."

In total 14 volunteers have now been trained and much needed home-visiting support is now being given to families in the area. In addition Home-Start will be offering support through its family groups.

Mary Hutson , co-ordinator at Home-Start South Holland said: "This is a very exiciting time for South Holland and will provide a much needed service in the area. Further recruitment for volunteers is well underway for the next course, due to start on the 20th January 2009.

Home-Start South Holland joins nine other Home-Start's across Lincolnshire.
