Five Home-Start schemes win Sainsbury's charity of the year.

Home-Start East Dorset, Home-Start Liverpool, Home-Start Runneymead (in partnership with Home-Start Spelthorne) and Home-Start Stevenage have been chosen as local Sainsbury's charities of the year. Meetings with the stores are now taking place and exciting plans are being made for events throughout the year. If you shop in these local areas, please look out for opportunities to get involved.

Sue Peake-Redhead, corporate fundraising officer at Home-Start UK said: "This is a really exciting opportunity for these five successful Home-Starts to forge close relationships with Sainsbury's staff and customers in their area, and really raise their local profile. Not only will they be able to raise funds to continue their essential family support work, they may also be able to recruit new volunteers and show Sainsbury's customers how valuable Home-Start's work is in their communities. The relationships will also reinforce our national relationship with Sainsbury's and illustrate perfectly how partnerships of this kind can work for the benefit of the organisation as a whole."

At least 40 Home-Starts across the UK applied to be their local Sainsbury's charity of the year and 13 of these were shortlisted. These 13 had the opportunity to give a presentation to staff at their local Sainsbury's and tell them more about the work of Home-Start locally. This in itself was a great achievement and will have already helped to raise their profile in their community.
