Home-Start volunteers help support families for a whole variety of reasons, but little did volunteer Debra Jump know when she went to visit her supported mum that she would be delivering a baby!
Debra and pregnant mum Jackie, had been out doing some shopping and had just returned home when Jackie went into labour. (Pictured to the right is volunteer, Debra Jump, mum Jackie Dow with baby Sean and big sister, Shannon).
Shannon, (3), was being looked after in the living room by her Great Grandmother Doreen, whilst Debra helped bring her baby brother Sean into the world.
Mother of two, Debra described Jackie as a 'star' during the half- hour labour and said that delivering Sean was something that she would not forget in a very long time.
Home-Start Deeside co-ordinator Linda Clark said: "I tell the volunteers that their kindness in volunteering will make a real difference to the families that they visit, but this is a special story we will dine out on during many Volunteer Preparation courses for quite some time to come."
