Help Home-Start win £1 million from Morrisons, voting 29/11-10/12

We are thrilled to announce that once again, Home-Start UK have been shortlisted to be Morrisons' charity of the year for 2011. We could make £1million go a long way supporting our 73,000 children and 35,000 families across the UK.
The decision is made by staff vote, and we have produced a three minute film that will be shown in all branches of the supermarket over the next two weeks, to help them make their decision on who to vote for.
Actor Max Brown is supporting our bid and stars in the video for Morrisons staff. Max has starred in Grange Hill, Hollyoaks, Mistresses, The Tudors and, most recently, Spooks. He was perfect for the role as his mum has worked for Home-Start for over 20 years, so he has grown up with us and therefore speaks from the heart. Hear what Max has to say about Home-Start.
The vote is for Morrison’s staff only (not customers), so if you know anyone at all who works for them, please urge them to vote for us. Last year we came a close second, so let’s keep our fingers crossed that this is Home-Start's year. We are facing stiff competition from two other charities, so please help us in making Home-Start Morrisons' charity of the year 2011.
We want Morrisons to help us create happy memories for all the children that we support across the UK. Too many UK families today struggle to meet their children’s basic needs, let alone provide those little treats that most of us take for granted. Facing issues like poverty, isolation, domestic abuse, drug/alcohol misuse, mental/physical health problems, many find parenting a real struggle.
This is where Home-Start steps in. 16,500 trained volunteers with parenting experience, visit families at home to provide emotional and practical support to help them give their children the best possible start – a home start.
Through one-to-one tailored support, family group sessions, parties and outings, Home-Start helps provide thousands of children with happy memories to last a lifetime.

The staff voting process carries on until 10 December, so we should know the result in the middle of the month. If we are successful, it will be a huge partnership that will benefit us in local communities across the whole of the UK.
