31st March 2009
People looking for a challenge are being urged to raise vital funds for the UK's leading family support charity by taking part in this year's Royal Parks half marathon.
Home-Start was founded 35 years ago in Leicester and since then has expanded across the UK in to hundreds of local communities. As a national family support charity, it currently supports almost 35,000 families and nearly 71,000 children. Home-Start supports families that are struggling to cope whatever the reasons including; post natal illness, bereavement, disability, relationship breakdown and poverty.
Last year Home-Start had four runners taking part and raised £3,000. This year the charity is looking for at least twenty runners and would like to raise £10,000. This year's half marathon takes place on Sunday 11th October.
The route takes in some of the most beautiful royal parks in London, including Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens and St James's Park.
