How Companies can Help
By supporting Home-Start you are helping struggling parents give their children a better start in life.
Home-Start has been working with companies for many years, developing good relationships across a wide range of industries.
Companies and Home-Start - a Win Win Win Partnership!
Win - families get the help they need when they need it from parent volunteers in a friendly, non-threatening way
Win - corporate support helps Home-Start reach out to more children and parents that are struggling to cope
Win - companies become associated with the largest home-visiting family support charity in the UK that could be touching the lives of their employees

Boots Healthy Communities Programme, piloted with Home-Start in 2007, is now rolling out nationally, partnering Boots offices and branches with their local Home-Start scheme, to offer a range of volunteering opportunities. The programme has already seen Boots staff sign up to Ground Force style room makeovers, hosting events and mentoring. " We have worked with Boots HR team to map all of the Healthy Communities volunteering opportunities against our business competencies. For example, if a person has been working in a store for a while and is ready to move on to become a team leader or a store manager, they might need a practical way of developing their leadership skills- a Home-Start team challenge would give them exactly this experience while benefitting the local community at the same time."

Gifts in kind and pro bono work also have a large part to play in charitable support. In 2007 Mears Group Plc, a leading social housing maintenance company, responded to a plea from Home-Start for help in setting up a new scheme in Wandsworth. Premises had been offered free of charge within a local school, but the room was in desperate need of 'TLC'. The room had a very high ceiling only accessible from scaffolding , so it was not a job that could be undertaken by a team of volunteers.
"I have been involved with Home-Start for two years now and really believe that it's a wonderful charity. Home-Start not only helps the families it works with but benefits the community at large. When Home-Start came to Mears for help it was a perfect match as Mears is dedicated to supporting local communities. The refurbishment undertaken by Mears will help many people within the community for a long time." Dawn Lambert, Head of HR at Mears. Read more
The Mothercare Foundation has supported our work with families since 2002 at both scheme and national level; funding our core work, and also staff training.
"Mothercare recognises the highs and lows that parenthood brings...that there are times when everyone could benefit from a shoulder to lean on, a friendly face and an extra pair of hands. That's why we've chosen to support Home-Start, helping them to help every mother and father to be the best parent they can be, and give their children the best possible start in life." Simone Spencer-Ahmed, on behalf of The Mothercare Foundation Trustees
The Scarborough Building Society and Home-Start have been enjoying a relationship since 2006 when the building society launched its Family Saver account (with donations going to Home-Start). Read more
