How companies can help
By supporting Home-Start you are helping struggling parents give their children a better start in life.
Home-Start has been working with companies for many years, developing good relationships across a wide range of industries.
Companies and Home-Start - a Win Win Win Partnership!
Win - children - more secure within families getting the help they need when they need it from volunteers – there because they want to be.
Win - Home-Start - able to reach out to more children and parents that are struggling to cope.
Win - companies - associated with the largest home-visiting family support charity in the UK touching lives within their local community.

Gifts in kind and pro bono work also have a large part to play in charitable support. In 2007:
Mears Group Plc, a leading social housing maintenance company, responded to a plea from Home-Start for help in setting up a new scheme in Wandsworth. Premises had been offered free of charge within a local school, but the room was in desperate need of 'TLC'. The room had a very high ceiling only accessible from scaffolding , so it was not a job that could be undertaken by a team of volunteers. Mears have also sent teams to completely transform the kitchen and garden at the Home-Start Centre in Leicester. Read more

Simone Spencer-Ahmed, on behalf of The Mothercare Foundation trustees

Wilkinson 2009 saw Home-Start embarking upon a brand new four year relationship with High Street home wares retailer, Wilkinson.
Wilkinson has selected four charities to support over four years; Children's Hospices UK, The Anthony Nolan Trust, Age Concern and Home-Start. Each of the four charities receives a corporate donation from Wilkinson across each of the four years. In our case, this is in support of our early learning development work and Child Development Training.
Each charity will also benefit from Wilkinson's in-store Charity of the Year programme for one of the four years. Our turn comes in 2012, when all Wilkinson stores, team members and customers will be encouraged to take part in a host of fundraising events, and to promote volunteering for Home-Start. This will create an opportunity for local Home-Starts to forge relationships with their local store and work together to benefit Home-Start locally and nationally.
Past partnerships
Alliance Boots Healthy Communities Programme, piloted with Home-Start in 2007, and since rolled out nationally, partnered Alliance Boots offices and branches with their local Home-Start, to offer a range of volunteering opportunities. The programme has seen Alliance Boots staff sign up to Ground Force style room makeovers, hosting events and mentoring. "We have worked with Boots HR team to map all of the Healthy Communities volunteering opportunities against our business competencies. For example, if a person has been working in a store for a while and is ready to move on to become a team leader or a store manager, they might need a practical way of developing their leadership skills- a Home-Start team challenge would give them exactly this experience while benefitting the local community at the same time."

Scarborough Building Society and Home-Start enjoyed a three year relationship which began when the building society launched its Family Saver account with donations going to Home-Start. With every account opened £1 was donated to local Home-Starts with a building society branch in their area. This guaranteed a minimum donation of £500 per branch over three years, specifically used for family events. The society also encouraged staff to get personally involved with their local Home-Start, gave financial support to the opening of a new local Home-Start, and sponsored national Home-Start publications from their donation-per-member-vote scheme at their AGM. Scarborough Building Society has since been merged with the Skipton Building Society.
"The ethos of Home-Start fit very well with our own values and we were proud to be associated with a charity that offers so much to local communities." John Carrier, former Chief Executive, Scarborough Building Society
