Royal Parks Half Marathon 2010

Take part in this year’s run

We will have 50 runners taking part to raise funds in this year’s half marathon which takes place on Sunday 10th October 2010. If you would like to run for Home-Start, please contact us. We will be asking runners to raise £500 for our much needed family support work.

As part of team Home-Start, we will provide you with:

  • Free running shirt
  • Fundraising support and advice
  • Welcoming committee on the day with refreshments

A huge thank you goes out to all 23 runners who took part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London on Sunday 11th October 2009. The rain clouds held out and the runners said they thoroughly enjoyed the route past some of London’s famous landmarks including Hyde Park, Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace. The runners received a warm welcome from Home-Start staff when they successfully completed the half marathon. They have raised over £16,000 for Home-Start, so well done to them, and thank you to all their sponsors.

Well done;

Sandra Alexander, Sarah Barfield, Mark Bell, Igor Burbela, Chris Courtney, Michael Evans, Roger Ford, Jackie Fulton, Hannah Gillott, Flora Hurrell, Theresa Kemble, Simon Maughan, Michala Maughan, Charlie Mellor, Emily Mellor, Clara Raven, Gerry Rock, Frances Scotney, Edward Tank, Jamie Thorn, Jessica Ward, Jeremy Waterfield, Nick Xanders

Quotes from runners from the Royal Parks Half Marathon 2009

The Royal Parks Half Marathon was really great fun and it was a pleasure to be running for Home Start. You made the occasion enjoyable and made the runners feel special - from your regular email updates/phone calls through to the picnic at the end of the run. I have ran other races for charities but really did feel valued by Home Start, more than I have with other charities and supported all the way"

“Thank you again for the support and food on Sunday, we both really enjoyed the day even if it hurt!”

“Thank you so much for letting us be part of the Home-Start UK running team yesterday. We enjoyed the run so much (albeit for a few aches and pains) and are now planning our next one! The champagne and picnic at the end was such a lovely gesture, and I’m sorry we weren’t able to stay around for longer to chat with everyone. It is great to have some photo evidence and we hope to try and call in some last minute sponsorship now as we have proof!!”

“Thank you also for all your organisation in the run up to the race, we were obviously in very capable hands.”

“I loved doing it and appreciated your support.”

“Thanks for organising yesterday for the runners. Hope everyone got round in good shape. Jesse was really pleased with her personal best time but is probably suffering today!”

“Thank you for giving me the opportunity to run on Sunday. The pasta I had and champagne hit the exact spot. We had a lovely day around the park after the race.”

“It was a fantastic day. I had a great time.”

“Thanks for all your organisation and support today, it was very much appreciated. I hope all the other runners enjoyed it as much as I did. I just now need to say a big thank you to everyone that sponsored me!”

“It was great to have you all there at end – especially with champagne and food! Please pass on our thanks to everyone who was there. We did enjoy it and having a Home-Start team made it more special – so roll on next year with 50 runners and a place in the tent!
