How trusts can Help
Ever since the setting up of Home-Start UK, charitable trusts and foundations, large and small, have played a crucial role in supporting our work and continue to do so today.
How trusts can help, and who to contact
Today, some of our most exciting projects are entirely funded by charitable trusts. In recent years, trusts have funded development worker posts in London, the Central Belt of Scotland and most recently, in North East England. Without this development funding, Home-Start could not grow into new areas and help families who otherwise would have no access to our support.
Grants made to Home-Start UK are still vital in enabling us to achieve our aims, in particular:
- Ensuring the highest possible quality of service is offered to families consistently across the UK.
- Responding to demands from families and communities by developing new and existing schemes.
- Offering training, support and guidance to staff and volunteer Trustees.
How trusts help local families in North East England
The Freemasons' Grand Charity supports people in need and is a long-standing supporter of Home-Start UK. This trust generously awarded a major three year grant in 2006 to help fund a new post of Development Consultant in order to grow the Home-Start service in the North East. This grant enabled Home-Start to 'lever in' additional funding from 2 other charitable trusts, ensuring that the project then went ahead.
The new Development Consultant, Amanda Gee, took up her post in September 2006. Her remit is to extend the services of Home-Start in the North East and the charity aims to open up at least 2 new Home-Start schemes in the region over the grant period , in order to meet local demand.
"The Freemasons' Grand Charity are delighted to be associated with Home-Start and to be helping to bring the long-term positive benefits of their valuable work with parents and children to families in the North East of England."
