Volunteers Supporting Families
Our volunteers, who know about being a parent, support other parents by visiting them in their own homes for a couple of hours a week.
Rheena’s story
"No-one’s asking you to be Superwoman. What I get out of it the most is to know I’ve put a smile on someone’s face."
Paddi’s story
“This isn’t what I thought I’d being doing with my life, I pictured myself building up my business for some time yet, but I’ve really enjoyed being a houseparent and volunteering for Home-Start is very rewarding. It’s a reversal of the traditional roles but whilst most dads are out at work, I’ve found a really rewarding part to play in family life.”
Sam’s story
From a 17 year old girl, to a mum supporting a family. Sam has been on a long journey, and Home-Start has been with her all the way...
Michael’s story
"I like to see the difference that I can make to the family that I support. Being able to take the boys out, knowing that this helps their dad, Steve, makes me feel good about myself."
