Home-Start is saying thank you to our 10,000 amazing volunteers with our first ever Volunteer Festival.

The Volunteer Festival ties in with Volunteers' Week, an annual celebration of volunteering which takes place from June 1-7.

For Home-Start, this is a chance to recognise the fantastic contribution made by volunteers around the UK in supporting families in their communities, whether through home-visiting, telephone befriending, helping with groups for parents or children, supporting in the office or providing invaluable governance in the role of trustee.

The festival takes place between 31 May and 10 June and showcases the range of volunteering opportunities on offer, showing people how they can make a difference to a cause they are passionate about, as well as boosting their own personal skills. It is also an opportunity to say thank you to our volunteers for their wonderful work supporting families and children.

Events taking place include: Open days, volunteer roadshows, afternoon teas, a picnic in the park, a mindfulness afternoon, a cookalong event, deliveries of hand-made cards from children and parents, a happiness workshop and various volunteer get-togethers.

Sally Munday, Volunteer Development Officer at Home-Start UK, said: “Being a parent has never been easy. It can be lonely, frustrating, heart breaking and over-whelming. Life-changing events can happen to anyone. That is why Home-Start and its team of volunteers are ready to stand alongside families when they need us most. Our Volunteer Festival and Volunteers' Week is the perfect opportunity to say thank you to our network of around 10,000 Home-Start volunteers around the country.”
