Two films by local Home-Starts have been shortlisted in the Charity Film Awards.

The films by Home-Start Birmingham and Home-Start Hertfordshire are both included in the documentary category, for films that are over five minutes long.

Changing Futures, tells the powerful stories of three families through the voices of the parents, children and their volunteers as they each talk about how the support of Home-Start Birmingham has changed their lives.

Home-Start Hertfordshire’s film was made in partnership with St Albans Businesses and involved people from across the town coming together to create their own version of Justin Timberlake’s music video “Can’t Stop the Feeling”. The film has been a huge hit online, and has already been seen 13,000 times on YouTube.

Both films were shortlisted following a public vote to choose the 10 most popular films in each category from the hundreds submitted. The winners will now be selected by a panel of expert judges.

The final results will be announced at an award ceremony at BAFTA, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, in February in London.

Five Home-Starts submitted a total of six films to the Charity Film Awards in 2016. You can see all of them here.
