Home-Start UK are delighted to announce the launch of our second charity shopping bag with Waitrose. The reusable shopper is now on sale in all Waitrose stores for £6, with 60p per bag going to Home-Start UK to support our work with families who are experiencing tough times.

The launch of the second bag comes as a response to the success and popularity of the initial campaign which saw the first charity bag sell out, and the increasing need to further support families across the UK.

“Our first Waitrose bag surpassed our expectations” said Mel Barry, Head of Marketing at Home-Start UK “and we are incredibly grateful to Waitrose for making this happen for a second time. With this second bag, we hope customers love the design just as much and that we double our efforts in raising funds and awareness of Home-Start.”

Home-Start services have never been more needed, with Home-Starts forced to turn away one in four families, and more families struggling every single day, reaching out for our help.

The new bag was created by Vicky McFarlane who designed the first sold out bag.

Talking about her inspiration for designing the bag Vicky said “ After the great success of the last Home-Start bag, I was so excited to be asked to create another design. Because Home-Start, very much starts at home, helping families when they need it, I felt the house should remain on the design and sit centre stage. Then the idea was to create items that all contribute to a healthy happy home.
I really hope those helped by Home-Start and the volunteers that do such an inspiring job love the design as much as I do, and it gives them something visual and fun to shout about Home-Start and the work they do.”

Tim Shaw, Partner & Buyer Non Foods at Waitrose said: "We're proud of the success of the first Home-Start bag in our Waitrose shops and hope our customers continue to support the brilliant new design as the work that Home-Start does is vital in supporting families across the UK."
