Salary: c. £25,000pa FTE

Hours: 36hrs per week, flexible working patterns considered.

Location: Home-based, with regular travel to the Leicester office required. Occasionally broader UK travel may be necessary.

Home-Start UK is the leading family charity with trained volunteers and expert support helping families with young children in communities across the UK. We are an umbrella organisation of circa 50 staff that works closely with our network of 184 local Home-Starts – all independent, registered charities.


We are currently looking for an HR Officer to support our existing HR team. This role will provide experience and exposure to all areas of HR but will mainly focus on recruitment for the organisation as we continue to grow. You will act as the main contact between Human Resources and hiring managers ensuring appropriate candidates are sourced, hired, and inducted to meet the organisation’s needs, whilst providing the highest levels of customer service to candidates.

This position is an ideal opportunity for an innovative, driven individual who has the ambition to succeed and progress as a HR professional.

Duties will include:

  • Supporting drafting job descriptions and person specifications
  • Working with hiring managers to better understand business needs and assess position goals and requirements
  • Using various sourcing strategies, such as internet job boards, networking, social networking and other channels to attract a diverse pool of candidates
  • Pre-screening all applicable candidates, sifting candidates before sending short list to hiring manager based on detailed requirements of position and job competencies.
  • Organising and preparing interviews/ interview questions/ any associated skills tests
