International Volunteer Day; Thank you to our volunteers International Volunteer Day; Thank you to our volunteers Sunday 5th December is International Volunteer Day and one of many chances for us to say a huge Thank You to all of our volunteers. Whether they volunteer in a family’s home, at a group session, on the phone or with a local Home-Start Team, we couldn’t do what we do without every single volunteer. Over the last year our network of over 10,000 volunteers has supported over 25,000 families across the UK. 79% of our volunteers have supported families digitally, either through zoom or telephone calls and 43% of our volunteers have supported families through a hybrid approach of face to face and digital support. Our volunteers have adapted and shown great resilience in this challenging year and we’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you. Sally Munday, Volunteer Development Officer at Home-Start UK has said ‘Our 10,000 volunteers are at the heart of every single story. They support families to feel like themselves again, help mums and dads become the best parents they can be and lend listening ears to anyone who needs it'. Being a parent has never been easy and it has become even more challenging during the pandemic. It can be lonely, frustrating, heart breaking and over-whelming. Life-changing events can happen to anyone. That is why Home-Start is ready to stand alongside families when they need us most. If you are interested in supporting families in your community then please do get in touch. Home-Start’s across the UK are always looking for individuals to step up and volunteer. There are a variety of opportunities available; Home-Visiting family support, Telephone Befriending, Trustee, Fundraiser, Administrator and more!
