Home-Start UK is the national body at the centre of a network of over 200 local, independent Home-Starts covering 71% of local authority areas across the UK.

Local Home-Starts work with around 27,000 families in every type of community.

Home-Start UK’s strategic plan is transformative and marks a significant step forward in our thinking to grow a modern and effective network, and help more families in need, create a better future for their children.

It is a product of last year's strategic review, the feedback we received from funders and stakeholders as part of the review and, of course, the 16 Big Conversations with local Home-Starts.

Our targets for 2020:

  • More than 40,000 families supported each year
  • Over 80% families report improvements
  • Majority of network income outside lottery and state sources
  • More than 20,000 volunteers with 15%+ BME & fathers
  • One new nationwide evidence-based programme each year
  • Majority of local Home-Starts rate Home-Start UK as effective
  • Over 30,000 online Home-Start UK supporters
  • At least 25% higher public support for Home-Start

Network 2020

Network 2020 will modernise the Home-Start network with shared learning and improved advice on consortia and mergers, and innovative local, regional and national models of operation. There will be a full consultative review of the Home-Start Agreement.

Share IT UK will facilitate exchange of ideas, such as new family support models, external research and the latest in charity sector thinking. Advances in data collection will enhance evaluation and give local Home-Starts opportunities to develop new information systems.

Home-SPARK will support local PR and marketing, recruit new ambassadors, promote stronger funding relationships, and drive greater awareness of Home-Start. A review of our corporate identity will see a brand refresh and a Home-Start Convention 2020.
