Angela Rose (Gela) is a home-visiting volunteer and trustee at Home-Start Lorn.

She has volunteered for Home-Start for 26 years, and was nominated for the award by staff at the Oban-based charity. Aileen Binner, manager there, said, “Gela was a home-visiting volunteer first and has supported countless families. She is still in contact with the very first family with whom she was matched. She only stopped home-visiting volunteering when she became grandmother to triplets and dedicated much of her time to supporting her daughter and family.

See how Gela received the news, and hear what her grateful colleagues have to say about her support:

As well as her home-visiting volunteering, Gela was elected to the Home-Start trustee board as a volunteer representative in May 1999. Since then she has been chair from May 2000 until our AGM in May 2004 and she continues to serve as a trustee. She has also been very involved in our quality assurance process in the last few years and provided excellent support to members of staff.

Before the awards ceremony, Gela and the winners of the other Home-Start national volunteer award categories were treated to a pamper afternoon, courtesy of The White Rose School of Health and Beauty, and afternoon tea with Kirstie Allsopp.
