Home-Start UK has joined over 140 organisations to call on the government to put children at the heart of the Nation's recovery.

Despite the Prime Minister’s pledges on Building Back Better and Levelling Up, the resignation of Sir Kevan Collins has highlighted a disturbing truth: supporting babies, children and young people to recover from the impact of the pandemic is still not a priority for Government investment.

That’s why we’ve joined the National Children’s Bureau and 140+ organisations in a call to Government to put babies, children and young people at the heart of COVID-19 recovery.

Our joint statement calls on Government to embrace a new vision of childhood and set out an ambitious cross-Government plan, backed by significant investment, that will be transformational for this generation of children.

It’s time for the nation to put children at the heart of its plans for the future, to stop childhoods being disrupted, life chances being derailed and economic growth being diminished.

Vivien Waterfield, Director of Fundraising and Communications and Deputy CEO at Home-Start UK said “Childhood can’t wait and in a year of extraordinary disruption for families there is an urgent need to put children and families at the heart of plans to build back better, fairer and kinder”.

Children, young people and parents are joining our call and raising their voices on social media, using #ChildrenAtTheHeart to share their priorities for COVID-19 recovery.
