Home-Start is proud to be a part of Good Morning Britain's 1 Million Minutes campaign, which will run throughout December to help those experiencing loneliness.

The campaign is asking members of the public to pledge their time to volunteer for one of the six featured charities to connect and make people feel less alone.

Last year Home-Start supported more families than ever – but they need more volunteers if they are going to be able to support all the families looking for help.

Alongside GMB presenters, familiar faces across ITV, celebrities and influencers will also get involved and show their support both on air, online and in person.

It has never been more important for us to talk about feeling lonely, especially following Home-Start UK’s recent annual survey. Local data provided by local Home-Starts show a 2.1% increase in family referrals across the UK but a decrease in active volunteers.

Last year Home-Start supported 58,850 families and over 75,000 children across the UK meeting the needs of each family’s individual circumstances.

Sally Munday, Head of Volunteering at Home-Start UK, said:  "We’re delighted to be one of the charities GMB is supporting again this year. As families continue to navigate rising pressures and increasing social isolation, loneliness is becoming an even more significant challenge for parents with young children. Home-Start volunteers remain a lifeline, offering connection, reassurance and practical support. This year’s campaign is a vital chance to bring more volunteers on board and equip them to help families feel less alone and more connected within their communities.”
