National Thank You Day 2026 Following the success of our first-ever celebration last year, Home-Start UK is proud to mark its second National Thank You Day in 2026, a moment to recognise the dedication of the volunteers, supporters and staff who support families through life’s challenges during the early years of childhood. Taking place this year on Tuesday 31st March, National Thank You Day is another opportunity to celebrate the people who make Home-Start’s work possible in communities across the UK. To mark the day, volunteers and supporters will once again receive messages of appreciation and recognition from across the Home-Start network. Communities, partners and families are also encouraged to share their own messages of thanks, celebrating the difference that kindness and connection can make. With 9,000 trained volunteers supporting nearly 60,000 families each year, the impact of Home-Start continues to grow. From weekly home visits to fundraising efforts, and quiet acts of kindness, every contribution matters. Whether it's a volunteer giving their time to support a parent through tough times, a trustee providing leadership support, a fundraiser running a local event, or a donor quietly making it all possible, this new day is a simple but powerful moment to say thank you. Volunteers like Anna, a former paediatrician from Belarus, who moved to Northern Ireland 17 years ago has volunteered with Home-Start Newry & Mourne for 15 years. One mum Anna supported, sent a heartfelt message saying: “Anna, thank you for your kindness, patience, and dedication over the years. Both of my children have been so blessed to grow up with your warmth and support at group. We are so grateful for everything you’ve done” National Thank You Day is about recognising people like Anna, and so many others whose kindness and commitment keep communities strong. Jodie Reed and Natalie Acton, Co-CEOs of Home-Start UK said: “At Home-Start, we see how small acts of kindness empower parents in the most difficult situations, and transform the life chances of their children. That impact is only possible because of our volunteers, supporters and partners who give their time and support to help families in their communities thrive. Home-Start’s National Thank You Day is a chance to recognise those quiet heroes and say thank you.” Whether you’re a long-time supporter or new to Home-Start UK, there are so many ways to get involved: Share your story or message of appreciation on social media using #NationalThankYouDay Get involved locally by connecting with your nearest Home-Start Volunteer or donate to help support families in your community Every message, every action, every moment of kindness counts.
