Home-Start Lakeland were invited to Enniskillen Castle, County Fermanagh to meet His Majesty, The King who was making his first visit to Northern Ireland following his coronation in May.

During the visit The King spent time talking to local community groups and volunteers including Home-Start Lakeland.

Reflecting on the Royal visit Diane Noble, Co-Ordinator of Home-Start Lakeland, said "It was wonderful to be selected as one of the few charities who attended Enniskillen Castle for the Kings visit. I got the opportunity to tell The King that in the 24 years we have operated in Fermanagh we have been able to support over 700 families. He asked me to pass on his well wishes to our volunteers."

The King and Queen Consort were making a two day visit to Northern Ireland and the event at Enniskillen Castle came a day after the Royal Garden Party at Hillsborough Castle, which was attended by staff members from Home-Start North Down.

Kirsty Richardson, Manager of Home-Start North Down attended the party with Home-Start Coordinator Janine Caldwell.

Speaking after the event Kirsty said “ It was lovely to be invited to The Royal Garden party to represent Home-Start. We were not expecting The King and Queen to be there and was delighted when the Queen shook my hand.”
