John and Max sitting togetherThere have been times when I’ve been in tears that I’m unable to provide food for my boy and worried we might lose our home. I’d started to think about how to prepare my son for a dry Christmas when my Home-Start volunteer came with a Christmas tree and gifts.

When you have nothing, and you get a call like this, it’s overwhelming. I’m so grateful for this help. It’s given us something to look forward to and be excited about.

John, single father to Max aged five.

Life is tough right now for families. Thousands of children in homes across the UK will face a Christmas this year, with no Magic Moments to brighten their day.

But this is not just a Christmas story. Children who are deprived of magical Christmas moments also typically live without important everyday childhood moments. Moments that are essential for a child to grow, learn and explore – a giggle and a hug with mum, a hot family meal together, a bedtime story with dad.

Create a Magic Moment

By making a gift to Home-Start's Magic Moments appeal, you alongside your colleagues at BT, will create a magic moment for a child during Christmas and beyond.

We want every child to have moments that light up their day. Moments that bring them and their parents closer together. Moments of love and joy.

But demand for our services has doubled in recent years. Local Home-Starts don’t have enough volunteers, or the resources to be able to recruit and train them.

By making a donation, you will support our volunteer programme to recruit and train one of the many additional volunteers that we need, so that no family is ever turned away.

Your donation will give a child in crisis a magic moment this Christmas.

Please give whatever you can afford. It will be a gift that will last a lifetime.

Thank you to everyone at BT!
