The cost-of-living crisis is real and Home Start is working with families and parents to support them through these difficult times. Parents shouldn't have to choose between heating and food and by way of support in January I am tackling The Spine Race to fundraise for Home Start. Widely regarded as one of the World's toughest endurance races the event covers 268 miles and extends the full length of the Pennine Way from Edale in Derbyshire to Kirk Yetholm in Scotland.

During this challenge the wind chill adjusted temperatures could drop to as low as -20 degrees, coupled with windspeed in excess of 50 mph over some of the most exposed areas of the UK. Running through the night, carrying over 10kg of equipment I will be forgoing all heat during the challenge with minimal eating!

Please dig deep, this is a great charity with a great cause and one that I am sure most people can resonate with. Christmas is about the kids so spare a thought for those that are struggling during these tough times.
