Home-Start UK is committed to equality, inclusion and creating better lives for all families. We stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement protesting the horrific murder of George Floyd in the USA and stand with the Black community and other BAME communities against all forms of racism and discrimination.

Our Home-Start movement of staff and volunteers operates within diverse communities across the UK and we encourage all our members to play our role in condemning and confronting racism. In the UK, COVID-19 has shone a spotlight on longstanding racial inequalities. It is deeply concerning that Black and Asian ethnic groups are up to twice as likely to die from COVID-19 than those from white British backgrounds.

At Home-Start UK, we commit to tackling discrimination and under-representation in our sector; to researching and raising awareness of the disproportionate challenges faced by BAME communities particularly in the face of COVID, and to seek to adopt anti-racist policies and approaches in our work. We know this is just a small part of tackling wider, structural inequalities but are committed to playing our part.
