Home-Start UK is marking the UN International Day of Families by holding its first ever newsroom.

On Monday 15 May, Home-Start UK will be using social media and its own website to share interviews, comment, statistics and stories about its work with families.

Across the UK, 269 Home-Starts are supporting 30,000 families to overcome the challenges they face.

The theme of this year’s International Day of Families focuses on the role of families in promoting education and overall well-being of their members.

In particular, the 2017 Day of Families will be used to to raise awareness of the role of families in promoting early childhood education.

Rob Parkinson, chief executive of Home-Start UK said “Strong families play a vital role in helping children to learn and in their education. That is why Home-Start developed the Big Hopes Big Future project, first in England and now in Scotland. And I think it is really important that it has been chosen as the focus of the UN International Day of Families.”

You will be able to follow Home-Start UK’s newsroom live throughout the day on Monday 15 May on Twitter, Facebook and on their website www.home-start.org.uk, and by using the hashtag #DayofFamilies.
