The effect of the COVID-19 pandemic has been widespread, affecting the lives of every child and young person in the country.

As a partnership of children and young people's organisations we are calling for a new vision of childhood to support children, young people and their families to recover from the impact of COVID-19. But recovery must not mean going back to how things were before, with rising child poverty and services at breaking point.

These are the overarching principles and actions our organisations believe must be at the heart of the recovery process.

The briefing includes recommendations on:

  1. Cross-System Short-Term Recovery
  2. Cross-System Long-Term Recovery
  3. Strengthening public health, perinatal, parent-infant and child mental health, and community services, starting in the first 1001 days
