The UK Government has decided to refer the UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Bill to the Supreme Court due to concerns that certain sections of the Bill would affect the UK Parliament in its power to make laws for Scotland.

This will be disappointing news to many, but as our colleagues at Together have said, ‘This is a technical matter relating to constitutional law – it does not relate to the policy intention behind the Bill’.

Home-Start Scotland will continue to make sure that children’s rights remain at the heart of all our work.

The UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Bill was passed by the Scottish Parliament on 16th March, 2021. You can read our previous statement here.
